Indigo dyed walnut
THE ANCIENT PIGMENT
Jordi Sarrate wanted to combine the art of furniture with the art of textile design where he was working for renowned fashion brands including jeanswear. And there he became passionate about the art of indigo blue dyeing process and aging garments through using and washing.
After long time and several tests he found the formula to dye wood with natural pigment of Indigofera plant coming from traditional India supplier who does the proces of obtaining the pigment as the same ancient formula.
The Indigo blue pigment is applied to the walnut wood by several thin layers to get the deepnest and aged effect as the worn jeans.

Sculpture to be used as coffee table or bench. Sculpted intuitively in one hole log of spanish Walnut. Inspired by the original form of the tree and finding a new sense for the inner beauty of it to bring peace and balance to the space.

COFFEE TABLE CT01
Unique piece with a special story that inspired all the work on it. This is a funcitonal sculpture hand worked in only one whole log. It was a huge tree that fallen down with a storm and wasn't cut by slices because a stone was inside of it. When started to grow the stone was in the middle of the log and was there forever. Now I decided to keep it in the table as it is encrusted there since the begining.
